THE FACE | SETTING POWDERS FOR OILY SKIN

Oily skin girl's best friend is a good powder to control the excessive production of oil! I could not agree more. Finding a great setting powder can make a huge difference in the makeup game. Of course primers and foundation count too but finishing products are the way to go. One of my perceptions when I was starting with makeup is that setting powders are all the same! They do the same job and give the same finish. Well, I was definitely proven wrong! Now that we are moving forward with technology, setting powders are created with different formulas and finishes so finding a great setting powder is definitely a big challenge for oily skin girls.

THE FACE | Full Coverage Base Duo

Full coverage base is every girl's best friend! I love how airbrushed and flawless my skin looks, the imperfections are easily hidden, and it looks great on photos! However, full coverage base can either look good or bad depending on the application and products used! One thing I hate is for it to look so cake-y and patchy through out the day. For majority of 2015, I did give up full coverage makeup and went all lightweight and natural looking. But when I reverted back, I knew that I was missing something and that full coverage makeup works best for me!

A couple of weeks ago, I paid a visit to M.A.C store to repurchase some products that I needed. Ofcourse being me, I came out with two other products that I don't necessarily need! Happens to everyone!

THE FACE | Summer Asian Flower

Hurray for summer! Except here in Wellington, we're still in 12 degree weather at most 15 if the weather is bright and sunny! Pink lips used to be my go-to lipstick paired with subtle smokey eye and  winged liner. I don't know what happened but for some odd reason I diverted to wearing nudes.

I hauled the Rimmel London 5 eyeshadow palette in Brixton Brown awhile back and did a blog post about how much I love the palette! (read here). In today's look, I decided to spice it up and come up with a different look that is spring/summer appropriate.

Now that the weather has warmed up and the sun is always out, I've switched out a few of my makeup products that is more suitable to current weather. Also these are the products that I can just grab and quickly apply in a early start!

THE FACE: WINGED LINER, BOLD LIPS. [WINTER EDIT]

Who doesn't love a good bold lip and winged liner? Simple yet a good statement look for winter. When picking a good bold lipstick, I pick the one that has blue undertone. It helps with making my teeth appear a lot whiter. It also complements my skin tone best as supposed to a warmer shade.

From my past blog post read here, I did a full face powder foundation routine which transitioned my perspective towards powders! I used to hate putting on too much powder as it can appear mask looking, and heavy to the skin. What's In My Travel Makeup Bag?

Two weeks ago, I did an unplanned trip back to Philippines for funeral. It was a good as I haven't been home for the longest time, bad because of the reason why I decided to finally go back to visit. I find packing makeup products challenging! As much as I wanted to bring all my favorite ones on board, I have to also think of products that has double purpose since it was only a ten day trip.

Current Favorites: WINTER PRE-MAKEUP BASE

Winter season takes a toll on everyone especially when it comes to skin. The environment feels too dry, and cold which sucks out all the moisture off your skin leaving it dehydrated and dull. It can also cause tendencies where your skin condition changes. My skin type is normally oily, but during winter season it changes to combination oily/sensitive. 

HANG-UP WITH ME THIS WINTER

Dark lips is growing in me, and it feels pretty good knowing that I've slowly come out of my safe zone.  MAC Cosmetics has the best range of lipsticks and there is definitely color for everyone! I myself have been obsessing over dark berry shades, brick reds, and browns / mauve. It suits my skin tone the best and it makes my teeth appear whiter. 

Remember Wonder Woman?

Remember this collection from M.A.C Cosmetics about 5 years ago? This is one of my first ever M.A.C purchase! Back then, I was not aware of limited editions when it comes to makeup. To be honest, I mainly bought it because of the packaging. Fast forward 5 years later, I cleaned out my makeup drawers and saw this eyeshadow quad. I could not believe I haven't touched this palette for that long. I contemplated whether to throw it away or sell it online, but the more I look at the shades the more I see many uses out of it! To my surprise, these eyeshadows are still in good shape (pigmentations, blend ability, etc.).

Ever wondered where all your favorite lipsticks went? Check your pockets because it might be there! I have a bad habit of putting things in my pocket and then later, forget about it. There are times where I get so frustrated and sad for not finding any of the lipsticks that I adore so much that I would blame other people or even my boyfriend for misplacing them! Anyway, while cleaning out my closet, I discovered a bunch of lipsticks that has been missing for more than a week or so. 

FULL FACE WITH POWDER

There is definitely no rules into applying makeup and certainly no strict rules on which ones to rock only for summer or winter! I personally love glowing skin throughout the year. It brings out a healthy, youthful look in me.

Have oily skin? Try using powder to create a flawless but glowing base! It took me years to master the use of powder. It may seem a little intimidating at first as powders can get a little cake-y. Finding the right powder that works great on your skin is the key to achieve a flawless base. At the moment, I'm going through a phase where powders are my go-to. It is quick, fuss free and great on keeping natural oils at bay for a long period of time. There are different types of powder foundations that are available to market these days.

I don't typically follow trends or tags but after watching / reading so many favorites, I thought I would share mine too! My favorites are basically the same except for maybe one or two products that are in rotation depending on what I feel like. I used to be a fan of full coverage, super matte look mainly because I was suffering from bad acne (biggest insecurity ever) and wanted to mask that all away.

Beauty Grab: DUTY FREE M.A.C HAUL

There's no great shopping experience than Duty Free! Not only it is tax free, but also they have mostly all the hyped brands that you can think of. Apart from that I just felt a little spendy. 

LIP WEEK: Touch of Purple

When it comes to lipstick, purple is something I don't go for often. The color is too bold and too barbie-ish for my liking. I'm sure it looks great on others, but for me I like to stay within nudes and beige pinks. Somehow I have a few that's floating in my makeup stash and I thought I would give them a try. 

CURRENT FAVORITES: WATER RESISTANT, HUMIDITY, HEAT PROOF

I can finally say it is officially summer! First time in a year that I used cold water to shower, and turn on the fan at night time. For the makeup, sweat proof and humidity proof products are the most ideal products to have. You don't want to be talking to people with makeup melting off your face because that's not a good look! I have to say one of the things I don't like is when the mascara is smudging all over the under eye area. Makes you look like Joker from Batman! LOL.

if I could pick my top 3 MAC lipsticks

I'm pretty sure we can all agree that MAC Cosmetics has the best range of lipsticks out there. They have six or more different lipstick finish and a billion colors you can choose from. (crazy I know!). However, going to MAC store without an idea of what to purchase can be a torture. The array of colors and products can get a little overwhelming which makes it harder to choose. If you are beauty junkie, one MAC lipstick is not enough so you tend to slowly buy every color in every finish that you like. And let's be honest! You're never going to use all of it except for maybe one or two. Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty for hoarding MAC lipsticks because they're so good but never got around to using all of them.
