if I could pick my top 3 MAC lipsticks

I'm pretty sure we can all agree that MAC Cosmetics has the best range of lipsticks out there. They have six or more different lipstick finish and a billion colors you can choose from. (crazy I know!). However, going to MAC store without an idea of what to purchase can be a torture. The array of colors and products can get a little overwhelming which makes it harder to choose. If you are beauty junkie, one MAC lipstick is not enough so you tend to slowly buy every color in every finish that you like. And let's be honest! You're never going to use all of it except for maybe one or two. Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty for hoarding MAC lipsticks because they're so good but never got around to using all of them.

I've come to conclusion to narrow down my lip choices into three different shades, I know I would use any season, any time of the year.  Out of twenty that I have, I got it down to three different shades- nude, red, pink/berry which I think is suitable for everyone. You don't have to own the exact shades, you just have to find a shade that will complement your skin tone. All MAC lipsticks have that distinct vanilla scent, and my favorite finish is Lustre and Matte.

Let's start with the nude, I picked 'Velvet Teddy' which is a matte finish. It is actually creamy for it being matte, and it glides on without tugging your lips like some matte lipsticks do.  A good nude lipstick is a must have for everyone! Brave looks like a brown based nude from the tube but whenever I swatch it, the  color turns into a mauve/dusty rose color. Not really sure why, maybe because of my yellow undertone. This shade is great for those who have light medium to medium deep skin tone. I find that it is a versatile shade where you can wear it for everyday or pair it up with a smokey eye.

If you want to get out of your comfort zone and try something that is not nude not red but something in between, then this is the shade that might be right for you. 'Plumful' is a berry tone shade that is quite bold but flatters a lot of skin tone. Thanks to Essiebutton for introducing me to this shade! The finish is lustre so it gives a nice shine to the lips and not overly drying. It has become one of my go to lipsticks when I rock the 'no makeup' makeup look. There is something about the shade that brings health/glow back to your face. It is great shade for all year round and I have a blog post about that [here].

Last but not the least, a good red lipstick is always a must! Every girl needs one for confidence booster and feeling classy (at least thats what I think). Looking for that perfect red lipstick is quite hard because for one you need something that will not make you look old, two won't make your teeth red, and lastly complements your skin tone. There's a lot of re shades out there but it takes one to make you feel like you're the queen of the world. For my skin tone (for reference I'm NC40 in MAC), I find that I suit more a blue tone red or a brick red. I picked a ProlongWear for this one as I want the color to last a bit longer. I found the shade 'Extended Play' and I've been rocking this shade this past winter. I have not tried wearing it for warmer weather, but I think this is nice for a bold night out look. The finish is matte but creamy and you can get away applying it straight from the tube without a liner because of the flat tip.

What is your favorite MAC lipstick shade and finish?

Thanks for stopping by!
