THE FACE | Poolside / Beach Makeup

I'm really sad that summer is almost over! I did not get much sun tanning done though I did quite a lot of walking (tan + exercise) so I guess it can be a 2 in 1 kind of thing? However, there was one time where I decided to go for a dip at the beach since it was pretty hot and muggy! Personally, I can't leave the house without makeup! So any time I go for a swim, I have to have something that is waterproof and can last through heat and sweat!

Third instalment for my THE HOLIDAY FACE series. For this look, I went into the dark side and created a little edgy / bold look. This look is night out appropriate but hey it's makeup so you can definitely wear it whenever you want!

THE FACE | Summer Asian Flower

Hurray for summer! Except here in Wellington, we're still in 12 degree weather at most 15 if the weather is bright and sunny! Pink lips used to be my go-to lipstick paired with subtle smokey eye and  winged liner. I don't know what happened but for some odd reason I diverted to wearing nudes. 

THE FACE | I'm starting to fall for falsies

False eyelashes is something I'm never a fan of when it comes to makeup. It normally takes me 30 minutes to apply both lashes which some may sound so bizarre! Well I don't use it as often as any girls do. I'm quite lucky to have fairly long lashes where mascara is more than enough to accentuate any makeup look I do.  But I've noticed that it makes any eye makeup appear sexier, bolder, and more finish!

THE FACE | Makeup Removal Essentials

Number 1 rule for makeup junkies out there : ALWAYS TAKE OFF YOUR MAKEUP at the end of the day! This is the most common mistake every women commit. I'm not gonna lie, I'm one of them! Especially after a long night out, or a long work day, cleansing my face is the last thing I think of! I've gotten better now and never miss a day without cleansing my face! *wink*

THE FACE | Barely There Base for Acne Prone Skin

Finding a good lightweight foundation for acne prone skin has become a struggle for me. I would find that mosts tinted moisturizers will only give me a hint of color covering almost nothing. Back in the day, I used to suffer from cystic acne where bumps would forever stay in my face making my foundation look patchy and caked up. One other reason I used to stay away from tinted moisturizer is because of my oily skin. At the end of the day, all the coverage have moved / melted away and it's one of the embarrassing thing I've experienced! So I was a massive fan of full coverage foundation, not till later where I started feeling that my skin couldn't breathe.

THE FACE: Inlined with Purple

 I've gone off wearing eyeshadow as it takes quite a bit of time especially when I'm only going to work then home. Mascara, full coverage face, tinted lip balm, brows, and a bit of bronzer are the usual ingredients to my everyday look.

Since it is my day off and feeling a bit under the weather, I thought I would go all out with makeup because why not!? Busted out The Balm's Meet Matt(e) Nude palette for this as I never really went for a truly matte look, well except for matte lips! It is nice to venture out of your comfort zone from time to time.

I used to be an avid lover of pink lips all year round. Overtime I've grown out of it and have been embracing a more neutral look with hints of color here and there. My everyday face is usually composed of the same products except for foundation which I like to switch from time to time depending on how my skin is doing.

I can say that I finally mastered makeup application with using just five products! Thanks to a good skincare regimen, I can get away with wearing less makeup!

THE FACE: MEET MATT(E) NUDE.

Anything matte eyeshadows and neutral count me in! When it comes to makeup, I like to stay in my comfort zone in eyeshadow department and go all out on lipstick. In purchasing a palette, it is very rare to find an all matte eyeshadow palette. Normally palette would consist 3 mattes and the rest are either shimmery or metallic.

Since the 90's lip got so popular, people started obsessing on dark nude lips! I have to admit, dark lips does give you fuller lips. Before this trend became popular, I was trying to stay away from any nude lip colors as they do tend to wash me out because of my medium tan complexion. 

THE FACE: Speedy Makeup for Early Risers

Having to wake at 5am every morning to get ready for a 6am work is dreadful especially when you're glued to the bed and don't want to get up. As for me, I find it super duper hard getting up when my first alarm goes off, I would normally snooze it about 10 times before deciding to finally get up. I give myself a good 10minutes to get ready and that includes getting changed plus makeup. Technically that will leave me approximately 5 minutes to do a full face! And trust me it is possible when you do it on a daily basis!

BH Cosmetics is one of the great affordable brand that constantly comes out with great quality products at a very affordable price point. Awhile back, BH same out with two palettes - Forever Nude, and Forever Glam. Ofcourse I opted for Forever Nude palette. I just can't stay away from my neutrals.

THE FACE: 'No Makeup' Makeup

Having a real tight schedule and waking up early every morning can be a bit of a challenge. For one, it is such a struggle to get out of bed and two you barely have 10 minutes to get yourself together for work/school. One of the things I hate is when I pile on so much on my face, and by the time I get to work it's all unblended and caked up! I used to be about the full coverage life as I have too many breakouts to cover. Now that my skin has gotten a lot better, I can get away with just wearing a very light base (i.e BB cream, powder). It took me quite sometime to narrow down the products I use and what works for me and get ready in less than 10 minutes looking nice and presentable. From then on, this has been my go-to makeup look! 

THE FACE: Monday Mess

A little makeup mess with me today. Just like any other day, I don't really do much in terms of my makeup. I like to keep it simple and natural on everyday basis. For today, I decided to have a pop of pink lips to bring a pow into my look! As always the products I use never change except for blush. I have been obsessing over powder foundation, now that it is starting to warm up in Wellington. Powder foundations are great when you have oily skin. Not only it helps control the oil, also it does not slip or slide off your face. My two favorite powder foundation are MAC Studio Fix powder foundation and the BareMinerals powder foundation. Both matches my skin tone on point, and gives a nice flawless full coverage!  

THE FACE: BB Cream on a Budget

First craze in the makeup world was when BB creams went international which was 4 years ago (don't quote me on that lol). It is suppose to be a skincare and foundation in one. I was very skeptical about this whole BB cream jazz. The claims were vey high, the most common are: to even skin tone, minimize appearance of pores, improve skin texture, and the list goes on and on. 

THE FACE With E.L.F

Did a major clean up today and I totally forgot I did a huge E.L.F Cosmetics order 3weeks ago! Crazy I know! Browsing through the goodies and I picked the products that I wanted to try for today. E.L.F Cosmetics is one of my absolute favorite drugstore brand.

THE FACE: ChiChi Super BB Cream

Currently trying out a new base from Chi Chi cosmetics. It's their Super BB Cream which I reckon is more of a foundation than BB cream. Dominique Amor and Jessica Wyatt have used this product a couple of times then saw fellow Australian beauty Instagram user post about this BB Cream.

It is one of those product where social media made you buy! The coverage is medium to full, not only that it also is beneficial for your skin (i.e anti aging, moisture, and SPF). My only complaint would be the florally scent which puts me off but it wears off after a couple of hours. Other than that, I'd say that it is one of the great drugstore product and totally worth a try.
