SKINCARE ESSENTIALS | WINTER EDIT 2016

My skin care routine has definitely changed over the years. I constantly try and discover products that is well suited for my skin type. For reference, my skin type is oily / acne prone and can get quite sensitive. Through out the years, I found that my skin reacts better with gentle products with less harsh chemicals, or products that are well suited for baby skin.

THE FACE: WINGED LINER, BOLD LIPS. [WINTER EDIT]

Who doesn't love a good bold lip and winged liner? Simple yet a good statement look for winter. When picking a good bold lipstick, I pick the one that has blue undertone. It helps with making my teeth appear a lot whiter. It also complements my skin tone best as supposed to a warmer shade.

Current Favorites: WINTER PRE-MAKEUP BASE

Winter season takes a toll on everyone especially when it comes to skin. The environment feels too dry, and cold which sucks out all the moisture off your skin leaving it dehydrated and dull. It can also cause tendencies where your skin condition changes. My skin type is normally oily, but during winter season it changes to combination oily/sensitive.

#OOTD: Marie Wears Camel Trench

I've been meaning to post about this trench coat for forever but the weather did not permit. Thank goodness for the sun today! Trench coat is becoming a thing this winter. It makes any outfit look chic and warm whether it is dressed up or down. For some reason it gives me that grungy vibe when wearing a trench coat, and that is my inspiration for this outfit.

THE FACE: WINTER BASE As Of Late.

In conjunction to my previous post about powders for full face (read post here), here is my winter base. I'm quite sad that my skin texture went back to way it was before which makes me sad. Trying out new liquid foundations has got something to do with it for sure. Back in summer time, all I used was powder foundation which worked great on my oily skin. I love the coverage that it gives, also it gives a decent amount of coverage without making my skin looking caked up. Thought that it is coming to winter, I would change up my foundation and use a liquid one since the weather is cold and dry. Well that did not really work because I noticed small bumps around my chin area came out of nowhere. It is such a never-ending battle for me. Since then, I resorted back to powder foundation.

WINTER MASK DUO

I feel like winter time calls for pamper session the most. Simply because the weather is pretty dry and cold, so our skin tend to feel dehydrated and flakey. Mind you, I have oily skin but whenever it is winter time, I do get dry patches especially around my nose and under eye area. I also suffer from frequent breakout when my skin gets too dehydrated which is quite odd. Took me some time to find products that I can use to help clear my skin as well as add moisture back into my skin.

Mask of Magnaminty from LUSH is my favorite face mask for clearing breakouts and unclogged pores. I would commend this product as a 2 in 1 face mask. It has grounded aduki beans and primrose seeds as an exfoliant to help remove a layer of dead skin cells. Also the peppermint oil helps in making my skin feeling fresh and revived. I like to leave it on for 10minutes (concentrating on areas where I break out the most), pat with warm water to start exfoliating and then fully rinse. It does help with demising small acne bumps in my face also reduce the swelling of bigger acne.

VITAMIN E Sink-In Moisture Mask from The Body Shop is the one I resort to when my skin feels tight and dehydrated. I use it as an overnight moisture mask to really sink in my skin leaving it soft and supple the next day! The mask has a creamy jell like texture which helps it sip into the skin fast without that greasy feeling. Sometimes I would apply it and leave it for 10minutes, wipe with warm flannel before applying makeup. It makes the makeup application smooth.

These two face masks are my go-to skin savior this winter! It does wonders to my skin, making it look plump and brighter!

What's your must-have pamper products this winter?

WINTER FASHION INSPIRATION

Winter is just around the corner down in southern hemisphere and it is about time to bring out big coats, knitwear's, and booties. Back in the days I did not really care about how I look every winter season. As long as I can keep myself warm and bundled I'm all good. I used to live in thin long sleeves and puffy jackets until I discovered ways to put together a nice outfit and still look warm and cozy at the same time. Over the years, I've slowly converted myself into wearing black and white. For me, it is classic and never goes out of style. It also gives me a challenge to be creative, so it does not look boring and outdated.

Here are some fashion inspirations that I'm currently loving:

Winter Ready Lips

Lips is one of the crucial thing to deal with simply because you can get very chapped lips or cold sores which can hurt and it also does not look cute! Thank goodness for lip balms! They come in handy in so many ways especially now that winter season is fast approaching.

Current Favorites: Saving dry skin and hair

Winter season is definitely taking a toll on me. My skin misbehaves like no other, dry patches everywhere, cold sores in my hands, dry ends, chapped lips- you name it all! My main concern is my dry hands and lips. For the past week, I've been on a hunt for products that will miraculously work wonders. Upon browsing through numerous pharmacies and department stores, I stumbled upon products that I would never thought in a million years to fall in love with. These products are awesome and I'm surprised that no one have mentioned or talked about it online.

Winter Lip Colors

Winter season is all about bold colors and matte lips, based on what I know at least. But for me, pop of color is always our savior when we are feeling  a bit dull or lazy. It can always pull a look together whatever season it may be.

Winter Lips Savior

Winter season can be a bit of a pain especially when it comes to your skin. It sucks all the moisture out of your body and we can only lessen it by using products that works for our skin. In my case, my main concern is always dried lips. Not only it chaps but it can cause bleeding and premature wrinkles around the lip area. Not to mention the embarrassing feeling she your boyfriend is trying to kiss you with them rough lips! It's a no no! To keep your lips feeling smooth and luscious, try a lip scrub. My favorite one is from Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub and I scrub my lips every other night to get rid of dead skin cells and also it makes your lips feel soft and plumper. An alternative if you are on a budget is a toothbrush! It does a good job as using a fancy lip scrub and also it's a great beauty hack everyone can use! After scrubbing, I like to apply an ointment to moisturize my lips and I use the Lucas Pawpaw Ointment (this stuff is amazing!).This ointment comes in handy as you can use this not only for your chapped lips, but also for dry patches around your skin/body, mosquito bites, and rash. At night time, I normally just use the lip scrub and the ointment but in the morning when I get ready for my day I like to use lipgloss after scrubbing instead of lipstick. For me, it gives my lips extra moisture and also a bit of colour for a healthy natural glow. I swap between a nude lipgloss and a rosy ones depending on the look I want to achieve.

What products do you use for winter?
