THE FACE: New Lip Concoction from the Drugstore

Since the 90's lip got so popular, people started obsessing on dark nude lips! I have to admit, dark lips does give you fuller lips. Before this trend became popular, I was trying to stay away from any nude lip colors as they do tend to wash me out because of my medium tan complexion.

That changed when I ventured more into makeup, the first ever nude lipstick I bought was the Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in 'Bare It All'. It was the perfect nude lipstick with a pinky beige undertone. Then I found 'Velvet Teddy' from MAC and became my all time favorite nude even before it got hyped. But there's always this one lipstick that you don't put to use at all. Stupidly enough, I purchased this very nude lipstick from Beauty UK  in 'Chelsea' thinking I can use it for ombre lips but never got around into doing it. I tried it on by itself and oh boy it looked like I have foundation lips and it ain't cute! When you first glance at the tube, it looks like a flesh beige color but when swatched against my tan skin, it comes off really pale and it reminds me of  MAC lipstick in 'Myth'.

I did not want to throw out this lipstick, so I purchased a dark red brown lipliner from Jordana in the shade 'Mahogany' from a dollar store. This lipliner only cost $4, and for the price it is so pigmented and a tad bit creamy that it glides on without hassle. Looking at the difference between the lipstick and the lipliner, they are both from the opposite side of the color spectrum. When combined, it creates this red undertone nude and from afar or under natural light, it appears to have a grayish undertone (warmer version of Lime Crime's Chinchilla). i love how the shade turned out and this became my go-to lip color replacing my 'Velvet Teddy' which definitely says a lot!
