THE POWER OF MAKEUP

Seeing photos of perfect girls with prefect body, skin, and hair makes me think low of myself. I feel like I'm never good enough, never beautiful, and always a wallflower. I have been battling with this emotions for as long as I can remember.
When I reached my teenage years and puberty striked, my skin became so irritated and I suffered from acne which made matters even worse at least for myself. I was afraid to take photos, afraid to socialize and show myself to people. I would always get comments that I'm hideous. Media made this perfect world where society must look like the ones they showcase in magazines. Us normal girls felt so insecure that it took a toll in social aspect of our life. We never appreciate anything, as we made this mark in our brain that we are ugly and it is not okay. We feel rejected, neglected, and belittled.

Everything changed when I started getting into makeup. I have learned that makeup can conceal imperfections, making me feel good about myself. I've learned that makeup can empower one another and make us / me feel appreciated and accepted. It became my creative outlet to be able to express myself. Though it may seem that I only rock one type of look, but makeup has helped me with my confidence! I started to go out more and socialize. I became comfortable in my own skin with or without makeup. I learned to embrace all my flaws whilst using makeup to further enhance the features that I like.

Makeup does not define you. It is just an accessory to help you be yourself.

Remember, "Always feel BEAYOUTIFUL"

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hi Carmela. I love this post! I feel the same way too! Make up played a big part in building up my confidence. I ddnt wear make up to just to look 'girly' but I wore it because it made me feel good. Anyway, im looking forward to seeing more post about make up tips and looks! xx Kris.

  2. I love your words of encouragement. I'm going to share this to my page this week! I have tried basic makeup - eyeliner, lip gloss kind of girl. But when I saw girls who were experts on it, I started withdrawing. I just rock a natural look now with basic foundation if I need to.

I am inspired by how brave you wrote this and to even take a photo of yourself without cosmetics is courage. I hope you inspire more people, Cam. :* Love you! I always enjoy reading your blog!

    1. I used to do heavy heavy makeup just to cover my imperfections due to insecurity. I thought it would be nice to pile on a lot of makeup but in the end, it broke me out and my acne got worse. When I started to rethink about the products I put in my face, I learned that less is more. Now, I like rocking natural look. I don't pay too much attention covering spots here and there. Embracing imperfections is the greatest thing you can do for yourself. Trust me it took me awhile to be able to realize the value and importance of appreciating everything. Makeup is only an accessory but that does not define the true beauty of a person.

Thanks for your support and love.
