Now that holidays is just around the corner, we are all going to somehow incorporate red in our outfit! Don't lie I'm sure you're guilty of it too! Red is considered the holiday color and I'm not entirely sure why. Ofcourse for makeup, red lips is everything. Finding the right red shade is quite hard and it is also one of the high maintenance shade. By that I mean, you have to constantly reapply to get that true red color. Also some red shades can make your teeth look a little yellow, so I recommend you find a blue-tone red to make your lips appear whiter. In terms of formulation, look for a matte lipstick/lip cream. It has the best lasting power which means less reapplying and fading. It can be a little bit drying so exfoliate and put a lip balm on before hand to avoid patchy application.
I picked the Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in the shade 'NY-CEE'. It is a blue-tone red which I think is perfect for my medium/dark skin tone. The formula of this lip cream is soft, creamy, and dries into a velvety matte which does not flake through out the day. With just one swipe, you get an opaque color pay-off. I love the vanilla scent of this lip cream, it makes the application a lot easier and enjoyable. The small doe foot applicator makes the precision of the application around the edge of the lips manageable and not messy. Also the formula does not dry out your lips. The lasting power is great and I would say it is very comparable to the Lime Crime Velvetines only a lot affordable! The Velourlips Matte Lip Creams retails for $19 NZD and it comes with 9 other shades (from nudes, pinks, coral).
So far I am enjoying this product and will definitely wear it to future holiday functions, so I don't have to worry about it transferring or reapplying throughout drinking, eating, and talking. If you haven't tried this out yet, you should!
Thanks for stopping by!
